Feb. 9, Iraq: a suicide bomber kills four American soldiers and their Iraqi translator near a police checkpoint.

April 10, Iraq: a suicide attack kills five American soldiers and two Iraqi policemen.

June 1, Little Rock, Arkansas: Abdulhakim Muhammed, a Muslim convert from Memphis, Tennessee, is charged with shooting two soldiers outside a military recruiting center. One is killed and the other is wounded. In a January 2010 letter to the judge hearing his case, Muhammed asked to change his plea from not guilty to guilty, claimed ties to al-Qaeda, and called the shooting a jihadi attack “to fight those who wage war on Islam and Muslims.”

Dec. 25: A Nigerian man on a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit attempted to ignite an explosive device hidden in his underwear. The explosive device that failed to detonate was a mixture of powder and liquid that did not alert security personnel in the airport. The alleged bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, told officials later that he was directed by the terrorist group Al Qaeda. The suspect was already on the government’s watch list when he attempted the bombing; his father, a respected Nigerian banker, had told the U.S. government that he was worried about his son’s increased extremism.

Dec. 30, Iraq: a suicide bomber kills eight Americans civilians, seven of them CIA agents, at a base in Afghanistan. It’s the deadliest attack on the agency since 9/11. The attacker is reportedly a double agent from Jordan who was acting on behalf of al-Qaeda.

2010

May 1, New York City: a car bomb is discovered in Times Square, New York City after smoke is seen coming from a vehicle. The bomb was ignited, but failed to detonate and was disarmed before it could cause any harm. Times Square was evacuated as a safety precaution. Faisal Shahzad pleads guilty to placing the bomb as well as 10 terrorism and weapons charges.

May 10, Jacksonville, Florida: a pipe bomb explodes while approximately 60 Muslims are praying in the mosque. The attack causes no injuries.

Oct. 29: two packages are found on separate cargo planes. Each package contains a bomb consisting of 300 to 400 grams (11-14 oz) of plastic explosives and a detonating mechanism. The bombs are discovered as a result of intelligence received from Saudi Arabia’s security chief. The packages, bound from Yemen to the United States, are discovered at en route stop-overs, one in England and one in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

2011

Jan. 17, Spokane, Washington: a pipe bomb is discovered along the route of the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial march. The bomb, a “viable device” set up to spray marchers with shrapnel and to cause multiple casualties, is defused without any injuries.

2012

Sept. 11, Benghazi, Libya: militants armed with antiaircraft weapons and rocket-propelled grenades fire upon the American consulate, killing U.S. ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other embassy officials. U.S. secretary of state Hillary Clinton said the U.S. believed that Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, a group closely linked to Al Qaeda, orchestrated the attack.

2013

Feb. 1, Ankara, Turkey: Ecevit Sanli detonates a bomb near a gate at the U.S. Embassy. Sanli dies after detonating the bomb. One Turkish guard is also killed. Didem Tuncay, a respected television journalist, is injured in the blast. Unlike the bombing at the embassy in Benghazi last September, the U.S. government immediately calls the bombing a terrorist attack. According to Turkish officials, the attack is from the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party, which has been labeled a terrorist organization by the U.S. and other nations.

April 15, Boston, Mass.: multiple bombs explode near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Two bombs go off around 2:50 in the afternoon as runners finish the race. Three people are killed. One is an eight year old boy. More than 260 people are injured. Three days later, the FBI releases photos and video of two suspects in the hope that the public can help identify them. Just hours after the FBI releases the images, the two suspects rob a gas station in Central Square then shoot and kill a MIT police officer in his car. Afterwards, the two men carjack a SUV and tell the driver that they had set off the explosions at the marathon. Police pursue the vehicle into Watertown. During the shootout, a MBTA officer is shot and one of the suspects, identified as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, age 26, is killed. A suicide vest is found on his body. The other suspect, Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, age 19, remains at large for several hours, causing a massive manhunt and lockdown for all of Boston, Cambridge, and many other surrounding communities. The manhunt ends when he is found alive, but seriously injured, hiding in a boat behind a house in Watertown. The two suspects are brothers and had been living together in Cambridge. They have lived in the U.S. for about a decade, but are from an area near Chechnya, a region in Russia.

2014

July 17, Ukraine: A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 crashes in eastern Ukraine near the Russian border, killing all 298 passengers and crew members. The crash occurs in territory where pro-Russian separatists have been battling Ukrainian troops. President Poroshenko says the crash is an act of terror. “I would like to note that we are calling this not an incident, not a catastrophe, but a terrorist act,” he says. Ukrainian and American officials say the plane is shot down by a Russian-made surface-to-air missile, citing satellite images. Poroshenko accuses the separatists of launching the missile, which they deny. Russian president Putin also denies having any role in the disaster. A day after the crash, President Obama says he believes that the rebels shot down the plane. He calls the crash a “global tragedy” and faults Putin for continuing to arm the rebels and for not stopping the fighting. Most analysts say rebels may have thought they were targeting a military transport plane rather than a commercial jet. A day before the crash, the U.S. and Europe impose further sanctions on Russia in response to Putin’s refusal to stop arming the separatists.

August 19: Members of ISIS behead American journalist James Foley, 40, in apparent retaliation for U.S. airstrikes against the group. Foley, who worked for GlobalPost, went missing in Syria in November 2012.

Sept. 2: An ISIS militant decapitates another American journalist, Steven Sotloff, 31, who worked for Time and other news outlets. He was abducted in 2013 in Syria.

Sept. 26: OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A man fired from an Oklahoma food processing plant beheaded a woman with a knife and was attacking another worker when he was shot and wounded by a company official.

Oct. 23: NEW YORK (AP) — A hatchet-wielding man attacked a group of patrol officers in a busy commercial district in Queens on Thursday, injuring two before the other officers shot and killed him, New York City police said. A bystander was wounded in the gunfire.

Congratulations President Obama.

President Obama has done something extremely effective, and when he does, this needs to be pointed out.

President Obama has continued the Bush policies of keeping a military presence in the Middle East. He did not scrub the mission to get Bin Laden.

The President may have came up with the technique in order to pull this off all by himself. The military wanted to go in there and bomb like they always do. They wanted to go in there and drop missiles and launch bombs, a number of totally destructive techniques. But President Obama, perhaps the only qualified member in the room to deal with this, insisted on the Special Forces… mmm…

No one else thought of that. According to the President and news reports, not a single intelligence adviser, not a single national security adviser, not a single military adviser came up with the idea of using the Special Forces… Really??

Actually, he kept the Bush policies alive keeping a military presence in the Middle East, allowing the military to finish the job that they started nearly ten years ago.

Obama deserves praise for continuing the Bush policies at Guantanamo Bay. Detainees who may have been waterboarded, and again we need to never forget that President Obama deserves our praise for continuing the policies established by George W. Bush which led to the acquisition of this intelligence that led us to the enlarged hut in Pakistan that led to the assassination of Bin Laden.

Even though Osama had long since stopped being a key commander, because he had no way to issue orders. He was a figurehead. He’d been taken out of the game because of the worldwide manhunt to find him.

This victory was brought about by the policies of the Bush and Cheney administration, policies that President Obama saw fit to continue to the end, keeping our troops in the Middle East, a heightened military presence, unafraid to use the Special Ops.

In 2008, Obama said:

“I’m not gonna make him a martyr. I would not kill him. I would capture him.”

These teams that Obama said he assembled, they fall under the command of the Joint Special Operations Command. They have been operating for almost 30 years. The Joint Special Operations Command is comprised of Delta, the 75th Ranger Regiment, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.

Marine Force Reconnaissance, SEAL Team 6, 1st Special Operations Wing, the 24th Special Tactics Squadron and a few other support elements. The CIA is also heavily involved, especially those from the clandestine service.

That organization has been assembled and operating in Iraq and Afghanistan for almost ten years.

Obama did not assemble it.

It’s the CIA and the Joint Special Operations Command who deserve all the credit for this.

President Obama deserves credit for not disassembling them, because this has been the policy of this country for ten years.

Guantanamo Bay, interrogation, rendition, all of the things the Bush administration put into play to win the War on Terror, this regime kept in place. They might have said something else, they might have given their supporters a different impression by saying they’re gonna close Guantanamo Bay and they’re gonna end all this harsh interrogation technique stuff. But, in fact, they continued the policies.

May 2 from Al Jazeera:

“The US spy agency learned his name four years ago; two years later, it tracked the courier and his brother to a compound in Abbottabad in Pakistan.”

The CIA probably found him through the previously described techniques, tracking him for months with the help of some Delta guys on the ground. And the team that went in Sunday night. They are the ones who deserve all the credit for this, not a politician or a bureaucrat in DC, except to the extent that they didn’t shut it down.

It is a great day for America, but the guys who did the heavy lifting are the guys who wear the uniform.

The left,  the Democrat Party of this country, the liberals, owe us and the United States an apology. They owe us an apology for taking every opportunity to undermine our efforts to track down Bin Laden and other terrorists.

They owe us an apology for their speeches, for their protests, for their lawsuits, their overall campaign to deny our military and our intelligence services the tools and techniques needed to defeat the enemy.

They have sought to undermine the US military, not only in Iraq, but around the world. They have impugned our intelligence services — they have sought to undermine them for at least the last eight years — and among those who owe us this apology is Barack Obama.

Barack Obama campaigned against the very enhanced interrogations that have made him a hero.

One of the first things he did was to sign an executive order closing Guantanamo Bay. It was Barack Obama who wanted to parade Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to New York for a multiyear, multimillion-dollar trial . Barack Obama won the Democrat primary in big part due to his radical anti-war positions — positions that he shared with the most extreme elements in our society. Eric Holder,  owes this nation an apology for his efforts to criminalize this war.

Virtually every tool, every apparatus, every technique, every policy used to effect a successful mission to kill Osama Bin Laden was employed by this current administration and they campaigned on undermining, destroying and ending all of it — and now they claim credit for being gutsy and courageous?

Not a word about the supreme efforts of General Petraeus or the military. Nothing. The staff is still out there trying to frame this as a win for Obama — not the troops, not for intel, not for America, but a win for Obama.

Despite everything that’s been said by this president and this regime, even as they pat themselves on the back, they deserve congratulations.

This is something that Obama inherited from Bush. He inherited a rotten economy. He inherited horrible deficit. He inherited recession. Well, he inherited the policy that led to the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

An audience member says to him,

My dad and I were talking about the Tea Party.  What will you do if these people are elected?

OBAMA:

America has a noble tradition of being healthfully skeptical about government.  That’s in our DNA.

We came in because, the folks, over on the other side of the Atlantic been, oppressing folks without giving reputation.  The problem with the debate that’s taken place, and, and some of these Tea Party events is I think they’re misidentifying sort of who the culprits are here. We had two tax cuts that weren’t paid for, two wars that weren’t paid for. We’ve got a population that’s getting older. We’re all demanding services but our taxes have actually substantially gone down, and so the — the challenge I think for the Tea Party movement is to identify specifically: What would you do?

No, the challenge of the Tea Party movement is to get rid of the Democrats who are creating this mess.

The purpose of tax cuts is to, what… Pay for government?

That’s not the purpose of taxes. This whole premise here is misguided.

Tax cuts were not paid for? You don’t pay for tax cuts.

The whole concept of paying for tax cuts is foreign.  It’s wrong.  It’s irrelevant.

By the way, revenues to the US Treasury in 2003 were in the neighborhood of $2.1 trillion. In 2007 revenues to the Treasury were in the neighborhood of two and a half trillion – Heritage Foundation citing numbers from the Obama administration Office of Management and Budget.

So apparently government revenues went up from 2003 to 2007 after the Bush tax cuts.  Revenues went up.

The same thing happened in the 1980s.

So his whole premise is nothing but a lie.

Government is the single greatest repository of greed in the world, Washington, DC, including even all the tyrannical dictators around the world.

All money is theirs and their little power games such that they believe you end up with whatever they deem is fair for you to have.

You don’t pay for tax cuts.  Tax cuts generate wealth creation.

The purpose of tax cuts is not to stimulate the government.  It’s to help the economy.

The purpose of tax cuts is to stimulate growth and prosperity in the American people, which clearly Obama’s not interested in.

The welfare, the well-being, the prosperity of the American people is not at all something he’s concerned about.  Otherwise he would be in favor of tax cuts.

Tax cuts are intended to leave money with the individual who earns the money.  Tax cuts are about private property rights.  Every dollar you earn is yours, until you are forced to pay taxes on it.  Then you have what discretionary income is left for you to spend as you choose.

Now, taxes are necessary, everybody knows this.  But the way the Democrats look at it, taxes are a punishment.  Taxes are a punishment for people doing too well. Taxes are class envy; taxes are a way to get even with other people; taxes are a way to buy votes for people who don’t think they’re doing well.

Now, the president said we had two wars that weren’t paid for.  Let me put it this way.  Medicare is not paid for.  The war on poverty is not paid for.  Social Security is not paid for.  Medicaid is not paid for.  The Department of Education is not paid for.  The EPA is not paid for.

Why does he single out the Pentagon when the whole government is in deficit?  Nothing is being paid for, Mr. President.  Nothing!  We’re bankrupt!  The country is broke.  We don’t have the money.

Everything is adding up to a deficit.  Social Security isn’t paid for, Medicaid is not paid for, Medicare is not paid for, the Great Society, not paid for, war on poverty, not paid for.  This deficit’s government-wide.  We’ve got spending increases, all of the president’s new regulations. None of it’s paid for.

We are on a deficit deathwatch.  That’s why the Tea Party exists.

Every penny the president spends today and from this day forward is not paid for.  Nothing is paid for that you are buying.  You’re not paying for a damn thing, Mr. President.  All of us are.  Everything you get’s gratis.  Your wife’s vacations, your trips on Air Force One, the perks and the parties.  You’re the only one not paying for anything.

The rest of us are in hock for the rest of our lives because of people like you.  And you dare to insult us and say that two wars are not paid for, that our tax cuts have led to this problem?

You blame the people of this country?  You are single-handedly destroying the wealth creation engine of this country, and you have the audacity to go to a town hall meeting and blame us?

Tax rates are not lower than after Kemp-Roth was passed.  Tax rates are not lower than they were in 1986. Tax rates are not lower than they were in 1988. To the extent that taxes are lower than when Clinton was in office, that’s thanks to the Bush tax cuts.

This president has intentionally bankrupted this country and now he claims that defense spending and tax cuts aren’t paid for?  But the rest of all his entitlements and the rest of his massive slush-fund spending, why, that’s paid for, how do you explain that?

All the things he’s spending money on are paid for but a couple of wars aren’t?

So national security, which is a constitutional responsibility, was not paid for but all the rest of this massive bureaucracy is paid for?  Tax cuts, which allows people to keep more of what they’ve earned the following year is already being spent by the government this year, so they’re not paid for.

Nothing’s paid for, except his precious little programs.  But everything that impacts us is not paid for.

He keeps spending.  He keeps running up deficits.  He keeps taking care of his union buddies, trial lawyer buddies, certain Wall Street buddies, and then there’s nothing left for those of you who pay the bills.

Suddenly he’s concerned about the budget and the deficit after he has single-handedly blown them up out of sight?

So essentially what we’re going to have to do is keep ponying up for Obama’s failures.  We’re going to have to keep ponying up to pay for socialism that doesn’t work. We’re going to have to keep ponying up to pay for huge salaries and benefits for bureaucrats and union people, and we’re going to have to hear all the while that defense and tax cuts aren’t being paid for.  This is our fault.  We had the audacity to accept the tax cut, and now we have to pay the price.

This is all lies, it’s irresponsible, and more than anything else, it’s dangerous because it’s destroying the very engine of wealth creation that has defined the greatness of this country and has given people, not just in this country, but around the world, hope.
