Stark:

“The Federal government can, yes, do most anything in this country.”

Suggested reading for all that seek to defend liberty.

REFERENCE ___ The Road to Serfdom – a book written by the Austrian-born economist and philosopher Friedrich von Hayek between 1940–1943, in which he “warned of the danger of tyranny that inevitably results from government control of economic decision-making through central planning,”

We must understand the past to prevent the destruction of liberty today. Rep. Stark exposes the ignorance of the constitution and the will of the American people.

By boldly asserting that the authority to regulate interstate commerce includes the power to regulate not merely voluntary activity that is commercial or even ancillary thereto, but inactivity that is expressly designed to avoid entry into the relevant market, this theory effectively removes any boundaries to Congress’s commerce power–Congress could mandate anything. Under this theory, given that the American auto industry is a highly regulated commercial activity in the national marketplace (in which the federal government has invested), Congress could constitutionally require every American to buy a new Chevy Impala every year, or a pay a “tax” equivalent to its blue book value.
…
Never in this nation’s history has the commerce power been used to require a person who does nothing to engage in economic activity. Therefore, no decision of the Supreme Court has ever upheld such a claim of power. Such a regulation of a “class of inactivity” is of a wholly different kind than any at issue in the Court’s most expansive interpretations of the Commerce Clause. A mandate to enter into a contract with an insurance company would be the first use of the Commerce Clause to universally mandate an activity by all citizens of the United States.

Today, even voting is not constitutionally mandated. But, if this precedent is established, Congress would have the unlimited power to regulate, prohibit, or mandate any or all activities in the United States. Such a doctrine would abolish any limit on federal power and alter the fundamental relationship of the national government to the states and the people

The financial state of most of these United States is dismal.

According to a new report from the Nelson Rockefeller Institute of Government, states’ tax revenues last year were down for a fifth straight quarter; it’s the longest period of declines since the Great Depression.

Prospects for a quick turnaround are also dismal.

Why? Well, because in too many of these states, liberals are running the show.

New York Times:

“The revenue decline comes despite the tax increases imposed by many states since the recession began.”

DUH??? Tax increases result in the decline of revenues… Any rational and minimally educated human being (excluding Democrats) knows this.

Actually, the revenue decline is a direct result of tax increases, and the out-of-control spending imposed by these states, which was made even worse by this slush fund spending from the Stimulus bill. The Democrats’ slush fund gave states a one-time cash infusion that has come to an end — for now — until the next round of slush fund money comes through.

The Rockefeller report warns that state tax revenues will continue to be “insufficient to support current spending commitments,” and that more spending cuts and tax increases are likely. But they say sales tax collections should rise when retail sales pick up. (That’s if they pick up.)

Look: This is not that hard. Government spends too much money on too many things. The government doesn’t have the money they’re spending. People are already taxed beyond the breaking point.

If you want to grow state economies, there are three steps to make it happen:

1. You cut spending

2. You lower tax rates

3. You fire liberals.

It’s that simple.

Obama accomplishments shine… like a dim bulb.

This post has been expanded and continued as a permalink – See Page: OBAMA ACCOMPLISHMENTS: An ongoing Saga

In no particular order…

The stimulus, slush fund has failed.
How’s that “Hope and Change” working out for ya?

Obamacare has been rejected by a large majority of Americans.
The silent majority has spoken.

Obama embarrassed himself twice in Copenhagen (Olympics and the Global Warming Hoax Conference ).
Take a bow for those, Obama.

The deficit and unemployment are destroying the Obama fiction, and the country’s identified Obama’s policies as the problem.

Democrat candidates were humiliated in New Jersey, Virginia, and Massachusetts, and guess what? Patrick Kennedy has said he’s not running for reelection in Rhode Island. He’s got a 62% disapproval…
Can’t wait till the 2010 elections.

Generic polls favor Republicans by huge margins.

Sarah Palin is getting write-ups now in the Mindless Media that Barack Obama would kill for. Joe Klein and David Broder, the same day, wrote 90% lauding favorable pieces of Sarah Palin.
You go, girl!

Of course, then there’s Robert Gibbs. We have to feel sorry for Obama because of Baghdad Bob Gibbs.

Guantanamo Bay is still open.
God Bless the U.S. Military.

Obama will not drop the idea of trying Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in New York City.
I don’t think we’ve heard the end of this from the Big Apple.

Michelle Obama has told the world that her daughters are fatties.

ClimateGate, a total hoax, has been exposed. Record cold temperatures worldwide over the past year, mind-numbing blizzards and Algore nowhere to be found.
If it doesn’t snow, it’s a sign of global warming… If it snows to much, it’s a sign of global warming… Am I missing something here? Really, that’s what it comes down to? What has happened to common since?
Oh, right, we’re all just idiots…

Obama embraces bank bonuses after trashing them for a year.
Sounds a bits schizophrenic.

Obama prematurely and awkwardly gives away the lie of not taxing the hell out of the middle class.
Shocking, eh?

Joe Biden has, in effect, said mission accomplished to Bush and Cheney for their brilliant policy in Iraq by claiming it’s one of the greatest achievements of the Obama administration.
We’ve moved from schizophrenic to delusional.

The tea parties are working.
Thank God.

There’s this story from The Politico: “Family Feud: Pelosi at Odds with Obama.”
“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s increasingly public disagreements with President Barack Obama are a reflection of something deeper: the seething resentment some Democrats feel over what they see as cavalier treatment from a wounded White House.”
Modern day ‘three stooges’ — Obama, Pelosi and Reed.

And then of course Dingy Harry has pulled the jobs bill. He’s reducing it from $85 billion to $15 billion.
The only ‘jobs’ this administration understands – Union and Government Bureaucracy employment.

Things are getting even worse for liberals. Is that even possible?

Actually its to be expected considering their ideology. Nothing has changed.
