I just want something simple, like the TRUTH!

How many years have we had a war on poverty in this country?

At least 50.

And what are the
results of the war on poverty in this country?

We haven’t wiped it out. The percentage of people in poverty today, expressed as a percentage of our population, is pretty much the same as it was when the war on poverty began.

And who’s run the war on poverty? Who created the whole program?

LBJ, liberal Democrats. It was their entitlement, and they’ve been adding and adding money to it each and every year. Now they even advertise for food stamp recipients.

Have we gotten rid of poverty?

We have not.

Every election season we hear the question, “When are you going to do something about poverty?”

We have been trying, and we’ve been trying it the wrong way. The way for people out of poverty is economic growth. The way for people out of poverty is education. High expectations, inspiration and motivation... must be present.

You’re never going to get people who are stuck in poverty — most people are not, by the way. People move in and out of various income quintiles. But the people who are stuck there are not going to get out of it sitting around waiting for government handouts. It just isn’t going to happen.

People have to do this themselves. They have to be trained, educated, inspired, and motivated to do it.

We’ll never be able to count on Democrats to do that because they don’t want those people out of poverty. –SIMPLE FACT–

Al Gore has admitted that he has a financial interest in advancing global warming. Here it is.

This is from Noel Sheppard at NewsBusters.

“‘Al Gore Admits Financial Stake in Advancing Global Warming Hysteria’ — On March 1, while speaking at the TED Conference in Monterey, California, the Nobel Laureate admitted to having ‘a stake’ in a number of green ‘investments’ that he recommended attendees put money in rather than ‘sub-prime carbon assets’ like ‘tar sands’ and ‘shale oil.’ This occurred as pictures of such products appeared on the screen with names of the companies involved: ‘There are a lot of great investments you can make. If you are investing in tar sands, or shale oil, then you have a portfolio that is crammed with sub-prime carbon assets. And it is based on an old model. Junkies find veins in their toes when the ones in their arms and their legs collapse. Developing tar sands and coal shale is the equivalent. Here are just a few of the investments I personally think make sense. I have a stake in these so I’ll have a disclaimer there. But geo-thermal concentrating solar, advanced photovoltaics, efficiency, and conservation. ‘As Gore spoke these words, pictures of electric cars, windmills and solar panels appeared in multiple slides on the screen with company names at the bottom such as Amyris (biofuels), Altra (biofuels), Bloom Energy (solid oxide fuel cells), Mascoma (cellulosic biofuels), GreatPoint Energy (catalytic gasification), Miasole (solar cells), Ausra (utility scale solar panels), GEM (battery operated cars), Smart (electric cars), and AltaRock Energy (geothermal power).”

So he’s admitting he has a financial stake in all these things and encouraging people to invest in the same things he’s investing in, while poor people are starving and rioting because of food shortages — exactly right.

You remember years ago — liberals sued Big Tobacco and then hit consumers with massive tax increases, — to fund health care, as promised.

Well, since then, states have indeed spent their settlement money on non-health care initiatives and have become totally dependent on tobacco tax revenue. And now they’re worried about the thriving black market of cigarettes.

Criminal gangs are smuggling cigarettes from lower-tax states to higher-tax states. It’s gotten so bad that the ATF has developed a national strategy to combat the trafficking. It’s a lucrative business, especially in states like New York. That’s where yet another tax increase will push the price of a pack of legally purchased cigarettes to almost nine dollars. An Indian reservation 60 miles from New York City sells over ten million cartons a year to people trying to avoid these high prices.

But it isn’t just Native Americans and domestic criminal gangs: Smokers are turning to Internet sales operations, too. Tons of counterfeit cigarettes are now showing up from the China.

The one thing the liberals can’t get through their thick skulls is that people respond to confiscatory taxes by changing their behavior. This was the lesson of the American Revolution — a war fueled by high taxes and lost liberties — and it’s going to be true forever.

in California, the state, for years, for whatever reasons — fuel economy, global warming, pollution emissions — urging people left and right to buy smaller cars, more economical cars, cars that get more miles to the gallon.

As is the case, here in a state as populous as California, you’re going to have enough sheep out there that when the government says do something, they’ll go do it because they think that’s what defines being a good citizen is following orders from the government.

And enough of them did over the course of recent months that less gasoline was sold. This coupled with a higher gasoline price — OVER $4.00 a gallon, here in San Diego — and all the other factors contributed to what? Less tax revenue pouring into the public coffers in Sacramento.
— OVER $4.00 a gallon, here in San Diego —
This alarmed state officials because everything they suggested people were doing in enough numbers, sufficient numbers, as to impact negatively the collection of tax revenues.

So what did they do? They figured out ways to raise taxes on gasoline and other things to make up their loss. This is typical government, typical liberal government. They tell you to do these great things to save you money and save the planet at the same time.

When they figure out that you saving tax revenue means they don’t get it, then the days of you saving tax revenue are over. So you’ve gone out, you’ve purchased a bunch of junk-heap automobiles that you really didn’t want but because of your desire to be good citizens. You’re driving around a bunch of puny so-called – car, barely able to do 50 miles an hour, but you think that you’re a good citizen.

And all of a sudden everything they told you to do harms them.

The laughably named; Government Accountability Office has released a review of over a dozen federal agencies over the last 15 months.

They found that close to 41 percent of all of the charges on government credit cards did not follow procedure and were improperly authorized. We’re talking about 300,000 credit card holders here, and they spent over $14 billion.

The feds could not account for hundreds of laptops, iPods, and digital cameras. Somehow, 16 computer server arrays costing $100,000 each cannot be found.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

The government-employee credit-card-spending-spree analysis shows millions spent on internet dating services — your tax dollars are buying this stuff, folks! — lingerie, and custom-made suits. There are gambling charges, mortgage charges — you name it, it’s there. One woman spent over $100,000 a year for six years on her live-in boyfriend! (No man is worth that, gals.)

Of course, this only elicits yawns from liberals, who are ever-clamoring for even more government spending on their growing list of entitlements.

But let me run this past you private-sector types out there who are held accountable for your company’s budget. If auditors discovered that almost half the charges on your company credit cards violated policy, and that millions of dollars of your company’s assets were misappropriated, heads would roll, right? And liberals would be first in line to rage about corporate greed, and to demand that corporate officers — like Enron types — go to jail. But with taxpayer money — your money, your government — it’s just business as usual… and it still isn’t enough for them!
