Obama: “Obama suggested that rising gas prices are not the problem. The problem, he suggested, is they’ve gone up too fast. He said he would prefer a ‘gradual adjustment.'”

So your Democrat Party presidential nominee is all for rising gas prices. He just wouldn’t have had them go up this fast if he’d had anything to do about it. There would have been a more gradual increase…

… really? Go figure.

This story by SweetnessandLight.com, the blog, and a guy from the Philadelphia Daily News on April 14th, after having a conversation with Obama, published a story. Here’s the headline:

“Obama AG To Review Potential Bush ‘Crimes.'”

April 14th, 2008, the author Will Bunch.

“Tonight I had an opportunity to ask Barack Obama a question that is on the minds of many Americans, yet rarely rises to the surface in the great ruckus of the 2008 presidential race — and that is whether an Obama administration would seek to prosecute officials of a former Bush administration on the revelations that they greenlighted torture, or for other potential crimes that took place in the White House.

Obama said that as president he would indeed ask his new Attorney General and his deputies to ‘immediately review the information that’s already there’ and determine if an inquiry is warranted — but he also tread carefully on the issue, in line with his reputation for seeking to bridge the partisan divide. He worried that such a probe could be spun as ‘a partisan witch hunt.’ However, he said that equation changes if there was willful criminality, because ‘nobody is above the law.’

“The question was inspired by a recent report by ABC News, confirmed by the Associated Press, that high-level officials including Vice President Dick Cheney and former Cabinet secretaries Colin Powell, John Ashcroft and Donald Rumsfeld, among others, met in the White House and discussed the use of waterboarding and other torture techniques on terrorism suspects. I mentioned the report in my question, and said ‘I know you’ve talked about reconciliation and moving on, but there’s also the issue of justice, and a lot of people — certainly around the world and certainly within this country — feel that crimes were possibly committed’ regarding torture, rendition, and illegal wiretapping. I wanted to know how whether his Justice Department ‘would aggressively go after and investigate whether crimes have been committed.'”

And Obama essentially said, “Yeah, I’m going to have my AG review it.”
Now, you’ve heard the term peaceful transfer of power, one of the things that makes our country great.

This is the kind of thing that used to happen, probably still does, with Vlad Putin and the gang, but this happened in the Soviet Union, this happened in totalitarian dictator — you criminalize the policies of your political opponents.

But this would be unprecedented, here.

After the administration’s left office, to pursue an investigation that might lead to criminal indictments for war crimes and other things. We used to do that to the Nazis. We did do that to the Nazis, the Nuremberg Trials and so forth.

This is who today’s modern liberals are.

Now, Obama’s got this wacko reporter for the Philadelphia Daily News who’s obviously not a reporter. He is a leftist who happens to have secured a job in journalism, and he’s got an agenda, and the agenda is right out of the cliched story line of the Media… that we are a murderous, raping, torturing nation and that Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld and Powell have to pay.

This is all about creating the notion in as many people’s minds that our country is criminal, is in a constant state of decline, and we are not worth our reputation as the world’s greatest superpower.

This is about leftists who despise this country or dislike it to one degree or another and want this country punished. They have a visceral, irrational hatred for Bush and his buddies in the administration.

And for Obama — I’m sure he’s just flitting along here, he’s worried about the Pennsylvania primaries, campaign, “Oh, yeah, I’ll look into that. I’ve already got my attorney general –” Well, what attorney general, sir?

This is who the modern leftists are, ladies and gentlemen, and they have taken over the Democrat Party.

The purpose for doing something like this would not be just to embarrass and harm Bush. This would be a direct assault on the United States and its government.

And you talk about we need to improve our reputation in the world. Look at how they would do it. By finding the US guilty at every opportunity of whatever baseless, phony charges that they would make.

This is Stalinist. If you’ve ever wondered what the definition of is Stalinist, this would fit it.

A story that the Denver Post published that this charity group, Friends of New Orleans, which is headed up by Donna Brazile and James Carville, was going to pay for a party, a welcoming party at the Denver convention center and the opening day, the Sunday night prior to the Democrat National Convention beginning.

This is a charity, Friends of New Orleans, which is designed to help New Orleans recover in any number of ways from Hurricane Katrina.

Well, it must be that New Orleans is back together. Maybe I missed this, maybe I missed it, but all of the suffering in New Orleans is over, all the buildings have been rebuilt, all the levees have been fixed, the Ninth Ward’s back up and running as it was, because they’re going to send the money out there to Denver.” By the way, Friends of New Orleans with Brazile and Carville is a nonpartisan group.

Well, it turns out the Denver Post got this wrong: “‘New Orleans Group That Raised Money for City Defending Itself’ — An organization that raises money and awareness for New Orleans’ rebuilding efforts is getting national attention but for all the wrong reasons. The group Friends of New Orleans is working to set the record straight on how it spends fundraising dollars. The homes in one Gentilly neighborhood range from untouched after the storm to rows of rebuilt homes. Some residents have done it on their own. Others got a helping hand from volunteer groups who want to bring New Orleans back.

Then there are organizations like Friends of New Orleans, a group that Executive Director Emily Byram said raises money and awareness to rebuild the city.” Money and awareness. They’re out raising awareness.

Could somebody tell me, is there anybody that has not heard of Hurricane Katrina and the damage it did to New Orleans? What in the world do they have to go raise money for awareness?

“So imagine the shock, the anger and the fallout from a Denver Post article, published Thursday. It reported the Friends of New Orleans — a non-partisan, non-profit group — was paying for a New Orleans themed-party for Democratic delegates during their Democratic National Convention in Denver in August because the party couldn’t afford it.”

That’s not what it said. It was because the host committee didn’t raise enough money. The host committee was supposed to raise 40 million, they topped out at 25 million; they’re 15 million short. So Friends of New Orleans was going to go in there and throw one big party on Sunday night before the convention because the host committee screwed up and didn’t raise enough money. They didn’t have enough money for all these parties that were supposed to go on during the week.

“Within hours, questions and concerns spread about the group, a group that’s worked to establish itself during its two years in existence. ‘People think we’re mismanaging the money and I want it to be clear — not one dollar is going toward any political committee, the DNC or anything,’ Byram said. The Friends of New Orleans, which has prominent Democrat and Republican board members, is hosting events to raise awareness of rebuilding efforts in both cities where the Democratic and the Republican conventions are held.”

So they’re not going to throw a party, but they are hosting events to raise awareness of rebuilding efforts. Raise awareness. “But the group said it isn’t affiliated with either party. Friends of New Orleans said the bad information came from the Democratic National Committee, which it said sent an erroneous press release to the Denver Post saying the group was footing the bill for the event. ‘The info was inaccurate and I understand why people are calling in and thinking we’re misusing funds we’re raising to help New Orleans,’ Byram said. The Denver Post and the DNC has corrected the information on their Web sites. The Friends of New Orleans, meanwhile, will work on salvaging its reputation. While the Friends of New Orleans and similar groups will be recognized because of the Katrina anniversary, it’s the Denver 2008 Convention host committee that is paying for the party festivities.”

Well, that’s big news, because the Post yesterday said that the host committee was not paying for parties, Friends of New Orleans go in there and do it to make up for the lost money that never came in thanks to the Denver host committee. So the Democrats have two anniversaries at their convention, then. They’ve got the Katrina anniversary.

They will celebrate it. They will find a way to celebrate that within the context of, we can fix it, we can stop these things from ever happening again.

Obama, the messiah, would simply have walked down to the delta of the Mississippi and put his arms up and redirected that hurricane. Just as Fidel goes to the western tip of Cuba and keeps hurricanes from hitting the Vuelta Abajo, so shall the messiah Obama.

They’ll tell us it would never have happened, and if it did happen, it would have been fixed by now, they’ll celebrate that.

They’re also going to be celebrating on Obama’s big acceptance speech night, the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

Folks, this is the 6th of June.

I realize that many of you know what the significance is of the 6th of June, but if all the adult Americans alive do not know what today is, then there is something very, very wrong. If every journalist, if every pundit, every blogger, every member of the United Nations does not know what today is, there is something very wrong.

June 6th, they called it D-Day.

On this day, 64 years ago, 150,000 American GIs stormed the beaches at Normandy. The casualties and the death toll in one day dwarf what has happened in Iraq in four or five years. In one day, approximately 2500 GIs and 2600 paratroopers were injured or killed in action. More than 5,000 losses in one day. That’s just the Americans. The Canadians and the Brits suffered as well. There were more deaths if you count our allies, the Canadians and the British.

The casualties and the deaths at D-Day of the United States and its allies, dwarf — dwarf — the casualties and deaths in five years of the Iraq war.

And on D-Day, the mission was accomplished.

Do you know what the mission was? What was the mission of D-Day?

The mission of D-Day was to land on the beaches at Normandy. That was the mission, and we did. We landed.

Then the second phase of the mission was to take back France, and we did.

Well, the German guns were all over the beach, but the German guns high atop Pointe-Du-Hoc had just free rein over anybody trying to climb the cliffs. Once you took the beach, once you stormed the beach, US Army Rangers had to rappel straight up to get to the German guns.

And they got there while the Germans were just firing pointblank range with nothing in the way. It was one of the most courageous acts of heroism. The Army Rangers just kept coming. Reagan referred to them as “the boys of Pointe-Du-Hoc“.

If you have any sense of history or patriotism or gratitude, take a moment and be thankful on two counts.

First, the sacrifice made by all of those in battle — those who passed and those who survived. The sacrifice made by those in battle — those who pass, those who survived — be thankful for that.

Second, that no senator, no congressman, no political party used the costs and the losses for political advantage to try and take over Congress.

Back during World War II — the Normandy invasion, the Battle of the Bulge — nothing happened in American politics like is happening today where the effort on the part of the US military was proclaimed a failure by one of the political parties.

It was never stated publicly, “We can’t win,” by members of the House or Senate on the Senate floor. They were not, in those days, saying anything publicly to demoralize the troops. Nor were they doing anything to castigate the commander-in-chief at the time, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Sixty-four years ago was one of the greatest days of the “Greatest Generation“. So give them a thought and at least a few seconds. If you don’t know anybody from that era to thank personally, then think your thanks to them.

The real story of D-Day is they landed on the 6th because they wanted to get to northern Italy on the 7th.

They landed on the 6th because it was the only day they could with weather. It was delayed over and over again. Weather forecasting back then was not nearly as precise as it is today. But they came.

The movie is not bad. It’s a movie for its age. The Longest Day summarizes it somewhat. There was also the Tom Hanks movie. Saving Private Ryan is also a pretty good account of one aspect of D-Day and Normandy and the whole French and Normandy invasion. But Eisenhower was not confident it was gonna work. This was so massive an undertaking. I think there were a significant number of deaths even in a training exercise for this mission. Something along the lines of 750.

So today’s D-Day, a lot of people probably don’t know it; many people probably have not even been taught it, but it was truly a remarkable day in the history of the United States military and this country — and if you read the history of it, if you don’t know anything about it, if you read the history of it, you will be stunned to compare how that effort and almost all of World War II was dealt with by the American people and our elected officials compared to the way the war in Iraq has been dealt with.

The war in Iraq has featured two wars.

We have had to defeat a domestic enemy in the process of waging it. That would be largely the American left, which has sought to undermine it at every stage of the way and proclaim defeat. Plus we’ve had to defeat the bad guys.

And both have occurred.

The defeat of the bad guys at this stage a little bit more profundity than the defeat of the left, because the left has succeeded in nominating as their presidential candidate a man who sought the defeat of the US military in the war in Iraq.

In the Washington Post, in a story on Obama meets with Clinton.

Jonathan Weisman and Shailagh Murray:

“Obama said he ‘appreciated very much’ the statement, and he instructed reporters to dismiss all speculation about possible running mates. He said he will neither discuss the selection process nor parade prospects in public,” as McCain has. He instructed the media.

Oh, fine. I love people that talk tough with the media, don’t misunderstand. But who else but Obama could get away with instructing them? They write, “they have been instructed.”

He knows they will follow his demand. Can you imagine McCain instructing the media to not cover certain things and them going along with it? Here’s what Obama actually said to them that led to this report, Obama instructed reporters to dismiss all speculation.

OBAMA: The next time you hear from me about the vice presidential selection process will be when I have selected a vice president, and if you hear secondhand accounts, rumors, gossip about the selection process, you can take it from me that it is wrong, because we’re not going to be talking about it in the press.

We’re not going to be talking about it. So he didn’t use the word instruct, but from that little statement, Jonathan Weisman and Shailagh Murray said, “and then he instructed reporters to dismiss all speculation.” So they wrote it up.

He didn’t even say it; they just took it that way.

He admonished the media, and the media doesn’t want to be embarrassed, the media does not want to disappoint the messiah, Obama.

And this is just this afternoon in Chicago, 2016 US Olympic pep rally with athletes. This is what Obama said.

OBAMA: In 2016, I’ll be wrapping up my second term as president.

I think he thinks he’s elected already…
