Rarely do state judicial elections generate national publicity, but that’s what happened in Wisconsin. The county judge, Michael Gableman, garnered 51 percent of the vote to defeat Justice Louis Butler.

First time an incumbent was tossed off the court in 41 years, folks!

A New York University lawyer, James Sample, calls the race one of the “true low points” in judicial elections. Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle says it’s “a tragedy” that Butler, “a fine judge and good human being, was trashed during the campaign.”

Why are these guys so upset? Well, it’s easy to understand once you get the lay of the land up there. The defeated judge was the deciding vote that tipped the balance of the court to liberals.

He had massive liberal support, including the state’s largest teacher’s unions. Justice Butler’s camp is furious that Gableman’s supporters painted Butler as a judicial activist (in other words, “told the truth about him”) and ran ads using the nickname Butler earned as a public defender: “Loophole Louie.” Michael Gableman, the winner, ran on a platform of judicial conservatism, and he won — it’s that simple.

Now, for decades, liberals have trashed “good human beings and fine judges” like Justices Thomas and Alito, and outstanding nominees such as Judges Bork and Estrada. So let’s forgo the national pity party, shall we, and crying in the soup when a liberal judge loses an election.

It’s not a national tragedy. It’s more like, “ABOUT TIME…”

In the Wall Street Journal there was an editorial, “Solving the Hillary Problem,” and there’s a quote in this editorial that says:

“Democrats should let Mrs. Clinton be Senate majority leader.”

Isn’t it amazing? They are so eager to get her out of there; they will let her be the Senate majority leader!

That’s something that you have to run for, and I don’t know that Harry Reid is ready to give it up. But here’s the points… When Mrs. Clinton first ran for the Senate and decided to make her move on New York there was a congresswoman by the name of Nita Lowey.

It was Nita Lowey’s turn. Nita Lowey had climbed the ladder. She’d been in Congress. She stepped aside. She passed on her turn so as to open the door for Mrs. Clinton. Now they want Harry Reid to step aside. What does he get for giving up his title as majority leader?

Maybe make him Secretary of Surrendering in the new administration. Offer him something. Secretary of Surrendering is good. Everybody is supposed to part ways and make way for Mrs. Clinton, get out of her way because what’s hers is hers and she’s entitled to it…

Except when it comes to the presidential nomination, they’re not willing to do it anymore.

They want her gone.

The Clintons have made more than $50 million since leaving the White House. Fifty million dollars!

Wow! When is the last time you ever thought you would ever hear a report like this from a network about the Clintons?

Well, “the Clintons say they pay the usual rate, they’re not getting any offshore benefit from being in the Caymans. But with taxes the devil is in the details”? Now, if Clinton’s made $47 million in speaking fees since leaving the White House, and there have been a couple books in there, and don’t forget all the donations to the Clinton Library.

It’s a great country, folks. It’s a fabulous country! Look, if the Clintons can do it, you can do it.

Actually, the way they did it, we can’t. That’s the dirty little secret. The way the Clintons did this, we can’t do it.

“But the Clintons are always complaining about the offshore guys, how they weren’t paying their fair share of taxes.” Hell, they’re Democrats for crying out loud! They’re good people; their intentions are honorable. It’s Republicans whose intentions are not honorable. Republicans don’t think we could have a utopia. So anything they do is okay, because their intentions are honorable.

It’s a two-way street in virtually every aspect of life for liberal Democrats.

Jane Fonda has endorsed Barack Obama.

REPORTER 1: Jane, who are you voting for?

REPORTER 2: Who gets your vote?

FONDA: Obama.

REPORTER 2: Oh, my God. Heaven help us all.

Folks, this cannot be helpful for Barack Obama. Here’s Jane Fonda. We all know, over in North Vietnam, in Hanoi, was sitting in an anti-aircraft gun, pretending to be shooting down American pilots — brave, courageous, American pilots.

Traitorous Hanoi Jane… Now she comes out and endorses Obama. If Obama’s planning on any crossover vote, this may complicate things.

She may have been sitting, at the same anti-aircraft gun that North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gunners used to shoot down Senator McCain’s plane, who just happens to be the Republican presidential nominee!

We’re not cynical. We’re outraged at the government because it’s the government that’s leading to high gasoline prices because we won’t drill for our own oil.

“Massive Oil Deposit Could Increase US reserves by 10x — America is sitting on top of a super massive 200 billion barrel Oil Field that could potentially make America Energy Independent and until now has largely gone unnoticed. Thanks to new technology the Bakken Formation in North Dakota could boost America’s Oil reserves by an incredible 10 times, giving western economies the trump card against OPEC’s short squeeze on oil supply and making Iranian and Venezuelan threats of disrupted supply irrelevant. In the next 30 days the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) will release a new report giving an accurate resource assessment of the Bakken Oil Formation that covers North Dakota and portions of South Dakota and Montana. With new horizontal drilling technology it is believed that from 175 to 500 billion barrels of recoverable oil are held in this 200,000 square mile reserve that was initially discovered in 1951. The USGS did an initial study back in 1999 that estimated 400 billion recoverable barrels were present but with prices bottoming out at $10 a barrel back then the report was dismissed because of the higher cost of horizontal drilling techniques that would be needed, estimated at $20-$40 a barrel.”

The US imported about 14 million barrels of Oil per day in 2007, which means US consumers sent about $340 Billion Dollars over seas building palaces in Dubai and propping up unfriendly regimes around the World, if 200 billion barrels of oil at $90 a barrel are recovered in the high plains the added wealth to the US economy would be $18 Trillion Dollars which would go a long way in stabilizing the US trade deficit and could cut the cost of oil in half in the long run.”

North Dakota’s biggest lake holds big potential.

In fact, here’s even more on this, and is this from Minnesota Public Radio.

“There’s an oil boom in western North Dakota. Oil companies large and small are investing millions of dollars in new wells. The North Dakota oil industry has boomed and busted many times in the past 50 years. But some believe new technology and high oil prices will bring long term stability to the North Dakota oil patch. Steve Guidry from Marathon Oil, ‘All indications are that we are going to be challenged to meet the world demand for oil and gas.'”

So there’s a whole bunch of it up there and people are starting to move in and get it, which, my friends, is great news.

“North Dakota officials estimate they will approve permits for 500 new oil wells this year. All that activity means more oil revenue, which means a healthy surplus for state government. The oil tax brought in $170 million last year. Oil revenue is expected to be at least $300 million next year.”
